VB-G RAM G bill introduced in Parliament in place of MNREGA, opposition strongly opposes removal of name of ‘Mahatma Gandhi’

VB-G RAM G bill introduced in Parliament: Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan introduced the VB-G RAM G Bill on Rural Employment in the Lok Sabha amid opposition uproar. While presenting this bill, Shivraj Chauhan said that the government not only believes in Mahatma Gandhi but also follows his principles. However, during this time the opposition expressed strong opposition to the “removal” of Mahatma Gandhi’s name from it. After which the Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm.

After introducing the Guarantee for a Developed India for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural) (VB-G RAM G) Bill, 2025 in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “Mahatma Gandhiji resides in our hearts. Both Gandhiji and Pandit Deendayal had the same resolve that the welfare of the poorest of the poor should be our first priority. We believe in his principles and are running several poverty alleviation schemes based on them… First When the Congress Party changed the name of Jawahar Rozgar Yojana, was it considered an insult to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru?”

Opposing the bill, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, “This bill should not be passed hastily, without consulting the House and without any discussion. This bill should be withdrawn and the government should introduce a new bill… Mahatma Gandhi was not from my family, but still he was like a member of my family. This is the sentiment of the entire country. This bill should be sent to the Standing Committee for further discussion. No bill should be introduced and passed because of someone’s stubbornness and prejudice.” Should be done.”

Opposition leaders, including Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, protested against the Vikas Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural) (VB-G RAM G) Bill, 2025, which is going to replace the existing rural employment law MNREGA. Protesting outside Parliament, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, “The reason behind changing the name is that they want to completely scrap the 100-day employment scheme…” Samajwadi Party chief and MP Akhilesh Yadav said, “Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi had awakened the soul of the country. He played the biggest role in our country’s freedom struggle. Today the BJP has nothing new to do, and that is why they are changing the name.”
