The opposition parties and social media have started getting angry reactions on this matter. This is not the first time that Nitish Kumar has been embroiled in controversy due to his behavior. Even earlier, many opposition leaders had accused him of mental breakdown during the state assembly elections due to his behaviour. A video has gone viral on social media in which Nitish Kumar drags a Muslim woman removing her hijab from her face while handing over an appointment letter to an AYUSH doctor. This time Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary is standing behind Nitish Kumar and in the video he is seen trying to stop Nitish Kumar from doing so. But at the same time, Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Deepak Kumar are seen smiling.

When the newly appointed doctor in hijab came to collect her appointment letter, Nitish Kumar asked the woman, “What is this?” Nitish Kumar, who was standing on the stage, bent slightly and pulled down the hijab from her face. The photos of the appointment letter ceremony for the AYUSH doctors were posted on Nitish Kumar’s official account. In the post along with these photos, Nitish Kumar wrote, “Today I attended 1,283 AYUSH at ‘Samvad’ in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. Attended appointment letter distribution ceremony of doctors (Ayurvedic, Homoeopathic and Unani).”

Criticism of opposition parties

Opposition parties Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal targeted Nitish Kumar by sharing a video clip of the incident. Congress posted the video on its official account and wrote, “This is Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Look at his shamelessness. When a lady doctor came to collect her appointment letter, Nitish Kumar pulled her hijab.”
