Today President Draupadi Murmu visits Vellore in Tamil Nadu, security arrangements tightened
Vellore. President Draupadi Murmu will visit the Sripuram Golden Temple complex in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu today. She will inaugurate the Dhyana Mandir built in the Golden Temple complex here. In view of the President’s visit, the district administration and police have made strict security arrangements.
According to senior district police officials, more than 1,000 police personnel have been deployed in Vellore city and especially the areas around the Golden Temple. The District Magistrate has declared the temple area as Red Zone and imposed a complete ban on flying drones.
As part of security, the police carried out strict checking of foreigners and outsiders staying in hostels in Ariyur area around the temple, so that any suspicious activity could be prevented. The team led by three sub-senior police officers and inspectors of the Special Protection Force has taken the entire area under control.
Two-tier security arrangements have been implemented in the temple premises. President Draupadi Murmu will reach Sripuram from Tirupati at 11:05 am today. She will have darshan of the Lord after inaugurating the Dhyana Mandap and will leave for Tirupati by helicopter at 12:30 pm.
On this occasion, Tamil Nadu Governor R. N. Ravi will also reach Sripuram by road from Chennai in the morning and participate in the inauguration ceremony.
Traffic will be restricted on Sripuram-Hosur Road during the President’s programme. The administration has appealed to the general public for cooperation.
