PM Modi honored with Ethiopia’s highest award ‘Great Honor Mark of Ethiopia’

Addis Ababa, 17 December. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been honored with Ethiopia’s highest award ‘Great Honor Mark of Ethiopia’. PM Modi, who arrived in Addis Ababa on Tuesday on his first bilateral visit to Ethiopia on the second leg of his three-nation state visit, was honored with the country’s highest honor by Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed during a special ceremony held at the Addis International Conference Center for his extraordinary contribution in strengthening the India-Ethiopia partnership and his visionary leadership as a global statesman.

‘It is an honor to receive this award from one of the world’s most ancient civilizations’

On this occasion, PM Modi said that it was an honor for him to accept this award from one of the most ancient civilizations of the world and he accepted it with utmost humility and gratitude. Prime Minister Modi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Dr. Abi and the people of Ethiopia for this honour.

Hailed the leadership of Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abi

He praised the leadership of Prime Minister Dr. Abiy and his initiatives to promote national unity, stability and inclusive growth. Underscoring the importance of knowledge in nation building, Prime Minister Modi said it has been a privilege for Indian teachers to contribute to Ethiopia’s progress and development for more than a century.

Award dedicated to Indians and Ethiopians

Prime Minister Modi dedicated the award to all Indians and Ethiopians who have nurtured bilateral relations for centuries, and expressed his heartfelt gratitude on behalf of 1.4 billion Indians for being bestowed with this honour. The receipt of this award is a milestone in the close partnership between India and Ethiopia and in furthering the positive agenda of the Global South.
