Brown University Shooting: FBI released video, why is there an uproar over suspect Mustafa Kharbuch?
FBI Shooting Suspect Video: The tragic shooting incident at America’s prestigious Brown University has shocked the entire international community. On December 13, when students were busy preparing for their final examinations, an unknown assailant entered the engineering building and opened fire indiscriminately. Two promising students lost their lives in this attack, while nine others are seriously injured. Now the Federal Investigation Agency (FBI) has released new video footage to solve the mystery of this case, taking the investigation to a new turn.
FBI’s new video timeline and description of suspect
Days after the shooting, the FBI released a detailed video timeline of the attacker’s actions. In this footage, the suspect is seen wandering in a suspicious state on the streets near the campus at around 2 pm on Saturday.
The attacker is wearing black clothes and has a mask on his face to hide his identity. Based on video analysis, investigating officers said that the suspect is approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and has a heavy build. He was seen walking for about an hour in the streets around the engineering building.
Big twist in investigation and announcement of reward
During the initial investigation, the police had detained a person considering him a suspect, but due to interrogation and lack of evidence, he was found innocent and released. After this the FBI has further intensified its investigation.
The agency has announced a hefty reward of $50,000 for anyone providing accurate information about the attacker. Authorities have appealed to local residents and shopkeepers to check their personal CCTV cameras and doorbell footage to trace the attacker’s escape route.
Mustafa Kharbooch’s name and social media claims
The biggest controversy in this case has arisen regarding a student named Mustafa Kharbooch. It is being claimed on the internet and social media platforms that the university administration has suddenly removed the online profile of Mustafa Kharbooch. He is said to be a first year international and public affairs student.
The rumor mill has people considering him a suspect, although the FBI or local police have not officially named Mustafa as a suspect. People are raising questions as to why his profile was made disappear immediately after the incident.
University’s side and fear of doxxing
As the controversy grows, Brown University has issued a clarification. The university says some members of its community have faced “harmful doxxing” following the shooting. That means they were being targeted for harassment by making personal information public.
According to the administration, the student’s online presence has been temporarily removed to ensure his safety. Despite this, there is doubt among internet users whether this move is only for security or there is some deep secret hidden behind it. It has been told about Mustafa that he is a Palestinian refugee born in Lebanon who was studying here on scholarship.

Campus panic and future security
This shooting incident has created deep fear among the students of Brown University. During the attack, students hid under furniture for hours and struggled to save their lives. At present, the security arrangements in the campus have been very tight.
The investigating agencies are also probing whether it was a hate crime or whether there was some other motive behind it. Unless the main attacker is caught, it seems difficult to restore normalcy on the campus. All eyes are now on the next FBI report.
