Governor Anand Bose strict on messy event disorder, gross negligence!

West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose has reacted sharply to the chaos that broke out during an event involving Argentine footballer Lionel Messi at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. He termed this entire incident as extremely unfortunate and said that it is not just a result of mismanagement but also of gross negligence on the part of the officials.

The Governor told IANS that the kind of uproar and chaos seen in this program was an injustice to the sports lovers. He said in clear words, “The word mismanagement is also less to describe this situation. The negligence of the officials is clearly visible in this.”

He alleged that when sports is seen only as a commercial commodity and private individuals are allowed to make money at the cost of the sentiments of sports fans, it leads to serious consequences.

The Governor said that thousands of people from different parts of the country had reached Kolkata to get a glimpse of Messi. Despite the gathering of such a large number of people, proper arrangements for security and order were not made, which is extremely worrying.

The Governor said that the chaotic stampede-like situation that developed in Kolkata is shameful for sports lovers, especially for the people of Bengal. The administration completely failed to anticipate this situation and take necessary precautionary measures in time.

However, the Governor also clarified that he is the constitutional head of the state and hence does not consider it appropriate to react hastily to any incident. He said that there has definitely been a complete failure in this case, but it would not be right to assess the law and order situation of the entire state on its basis.

He said, “I don’t want to go into details, but as a governor, my first responsibility is towards the people. So I will think from the perspective of the people, who were completely ignored and people were made scapegoats for someone’s greed for money, the game was sold like a commercial thing.”

Governor Anand Bose also said that he has made his own independent assessment of this entire matter, information about which he will give to the concerned authorities. At this time, he declined to comment further publicly on the subject.

On the possibility of Bangladeshi infiltrators having an impact on the elections, the West Bengal Governor said, “After SIR, I believe the possibilities have reduced. I am not saying they have been completely eliminated, but they have definitely reduced.”

He further said, “This is a reality which came to light when the SIR process started. There is also migration of illegal immigrants from Bengal through the border into Bangladesh. This is a situation, a phenomenon which has been studied in great depth. As far as its impact on elections is concerned, the SIR process will definitely bring about a change. It will clean up the system to a great extent.”
