Roasted gram is also poisonous, adulterators are adding leather coloring chemical to make it shine, 30 tonnes caught!
In Gorakhpur, the Food Safety Department seized 30 tonnes of adulterated roasted gram. The surprising thing is that to make these grams bright yellow, a dangerous leather coloring chemical ‘Auramine’ was being used. This chemical is completely banned and is poisonous even causing cancer.
The most shocking thing is that a company named Maa Tara Traders had already sold 375 bags of such poisonous gram in the market. Now officials are busy finding out where these grams have reached.
There was a stir in Hapur also
As soon as the news of Gorakhpur spread, the food safety department in Hapur also came into action. There were raids on many warehouses and shops. Samples of roasted gram have been taken from many places, while at some places the entire stock has been seized. Investigation revealed that the exact same method was being followed here – a poisonous chemical used to color leather was sprayed on the gram grains to make them bright yellow.
