India will become the center of global AI discussion, Global South will get a bigger platform

India AI Summit: India is going to host a historic global event as early as 2026. ‘India-AI Impact Summit 2026’ in New Delhi on 19th and 20th February 2026 ,AI Impact Summit) will be organized. This summit is especially focused on the ‘Global South’ It is being considered a big opportunity for the countries of the world, where they will together explore solutions related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and play an active role in shaping the AI ​​agenda at the international level. This information was given by Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasad during a special program organized at the United Nations Headquarters.

Historic global event to be held in New Delhi

‘India-AI Impact Summit 2026’ Will be organized on 19-20 February 2026 in New Delhi. United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres will attend this summit as a special guest. This will be the first time that the ‘Global South’ A global AI summit is being organized in India. Earlier such summits have been held in Bletchley Park (United Kingdom), Seoul and Paris.

Why is this summit special?

Underlining the importance of this event, Minister of State Jitin Prasad said that this summit will not be limited to just formal discussions, but it will yield concrete and positive results. He said that in the future, most users and data of AI will come from emerging and developing economies. In this context, he clarified that, ‘The needs, limitations and innovations of these countries should be the basis of the global AI ecosystem.’

What will be the vision of the summit?

The focus of this summit will be on three main pillars: people, earth and development. India believes that technology is effective only when it is made inclusive, open and trusted by all from the very beginning. On this platform, government, industry, scientific community and civil society will come together so that AI can be used for human welfare and sustainable development.

France’s AI and Digital Ambassador Clara Chapaz said that this summit is not limited to just discussion, but now is the right time to put ideas on the ground. At the same time, United Nations Technology Envoy Amandeep Singh Gill said that old technological changes like social media and nuclear energy have proved that solutions to global challenges are possible only with the cooperation of countries. He also underlined that this is the first time that an AI summit is being held in a developing country, which will ensure participation of more countries and people in the global dialogue.
