Arrest warrant issued against Maharashtra Sports Minister Manikrao Kokate, hearing to be held in High Court on December 19
Mumbai The troubles of Maharashtra Sports Minister and NCP leader Manikrao Kokate have increased. A sessions court in Nashik has upheld his two-year jail sentence in a 1995 cheating and forgery case. Along with this, Nashik Court has also issued an arrest warrant against Kokate.

Let us tell you that Maharashtra’s Nashik District and Sessions Court on Tuesday, while giving a big decision in the state politics, sentenced Maharashtra Government Sports Minister and NCP Ajit Pawar faction leader Manikrao Kokate to two years imprisonment. Along with this, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him. This case is related to fraud in flat allotment under Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana.
The court has also made it clear in its order that if the fine amount is not paid within the stipulated time, then both the accused will have to face additional jail sentence of one month. Advocate Sudhir Kotwal informed that as per the order of the Sessions Court, now the lower court will have to start the arrest process. Talking about the political background of Manikrao Kokate, he is 67 years old and is an MLA from Sinnar assembly constituency. He won elections in 1999, 2004 and 2009. He had to face defeat in 2014, while in 2024 he was re-elected as MLA from NCP Ajit Pawar faction. This case started in the year 1997, when former minister Tukaram Dighole had filed a petition regarding alleged fraud in Chief Minister quota flats. The case was registered at Sarkarwada police station in Nashik. Now after almost 27 years, the court has pronounced the sentence in this case, which has created a stir in the politics of the state.
