Jerusalem. India’s Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his official visit to Israel. This meeting has taken place at a time when there is a strong international reaction to the terrorist attack on the Jewish community in Sydney, Australia.
After the meeting, Dr. Jaishankar, while giving information on social media, said that he congratulated Netanyahu on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the talks, both the leaders discussed further strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas such as technology, economy, skill and talent development, connectivity and security. Regional and global developments were also discussed.
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar strongly condemned the Sydney attack and said that India and Israel do not accept terrorism in any form. He made it clear that India stands with Israel in its action against terrorism. This statement is being seen as a joint strategy and commitment of both the countries against terrorism.
Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump has also taken a tough stance regarding the Sydney attack. During a Jewish community event at the White House, Trump said that all countries of the world should stand united against radical Islamic terrorism. He warned those who support terrorism and said that they will have to pay a heavy price for it.
It is noteworthy that on one hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to Muslim countries, while on the other hand, Foreign Minister Jaishankar’s visit to Israel reflects India’s balanced and active diplomacy. According to experts, this development underlines India’s clear policy and strong international cooperation against terrorism at the global level.
