PM Modi is on a two-day state visit to Ethiopia at the invitation of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. This is Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed also held informal talks in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

PM to address joint session of Ethiopian Parliament
During his first visit, PM Modi will address the joint session of the Ethiopian Parliament. In his address, PM Modi will share his views on India’s journey as the mother of democracy. PM Modi will also speak on how important the partnership between India and Ethiopia can prove to be for the Global South. From Ethiopia, PM Modi will go to Oman for the third phase of his visit.

PM Modi’s visit to Ethiopia is an important step towards India’s Africa policy, global diplomacy and strengthening cooperation between the two countries. Ethiopia is a major country in Africa and the headquarters of the African Union (AU) is located there.
