Ranchi: Wild elephants continue to wreak havoc in Jharkhand. In the last 24 hours, many people have become victims of wild elephants in different parts of the state. Five people, including two women, have been crushed to death by wild elephants. A police officer gave this information to a news agency. According to the official, three people died in Sirka Jungle area in Ramgarh district, while a 36-year-old man died in Jidu village of Angara on Tuesday night.

Ramgarh Divisional Forest Officer Nitish Kumar said that two quick response teams and forest guards have been deployed to keep an eye on the movements of elephants in the area. He said that the forest department is continuously monitoring the movement of elephant herds.

According to the Forest Department, at present about 42 wild elephants are roaming in different herds in the forests bordering Ramgarh and Bokaro districts, due to which the danger has increased. Here, Angara police station in-charge Gautam Kumar Rajwar said that Sanicharva Munda, who was injured in the elephant attack, died during treatment, while two other injured, including a woman, are undergoing treatment in the hospital.
