Phu Quoc Island, voted the most beautiful in Asia by readers of the American magazine Condé Nast Traveler, has begun welcoming an influx of tourists from Eastern Europe arriving on charter flights from mid-December.

According to international tour operator Join UP!, charter services on the Bucharest–Phu Quoc route will operate from Dec. 14 to Jan. 15 with one flight scheduled every 10 days, Voice of Vietnam reported.

Bucharest is the capital and commercial and industrial center of Romania.

Charter flights from Chisinau, the capital and largest city of Moldova, to Phu Quoc will begin on Dec. 19 and continue until mid-March 2026, with approximately 18 flights planned during this period.

Phu Quoc was the most searched Vietnamese destination by Eastern European tourists in recent months, with searches in October and November increasing 113% year-on-year, according to online travel platform Agoda.

The island is the only Vietnamese destination that offers 30-day visa waiver for all international travelers. It is also favored for convenient direct flights and natural landscape.

Phu Quoc received nearly 7.6 million tourists including 1.6 million foreign arrivals in the first 11 months of this year, up 35% year-on-year and surpassing the year’s target. It had aimed to receive 7.25 million tourists this year, including 1.2 million from overseas.

October to May is the peak travel season on the island with sunny weather and clear blue sea.
