Moradabad.Under the ongoing ‘Child Marriage Free India’ campaign to eradicate the evil of child marriage in the country, a special awareness program was organized in Gram Panchayat Kondri of Moradabad district. The team of One Stop Center explained in detail to the common people of the village about the dangers of child marriage and made them aware. The villagers got a lot of information from this program and many people are also promising to come forward.
Who ran this awareness program?
The team of One Stop Center took command of this program. Center Manager Mrs. Gunjan Tiwari played the lead role. He explained in detail about the social and legal difficulties of child marriage. Also inspired children to be alert about their rights and protect them.
Psychosocial counselor Tanisha Diwakar and child helpline coordinator Tabassum also spoke to the people. He clearly told that according to the law, for marriage, the age of the boy should be at least 21 years and that of the girl should be 18 years. Child marriage not only spoils the future of children, but it is also a serious crime in law, which can be punished.
This important information was given to the people
In the program the team told the villagers about the ill effects of child marriage. If any case of child marriage comes to light, an appeal was made to immediately give information on child helpline number 1098. The team said that due to premature marriage, children’s education gets interrupted, their health deteriorates and their personality also does not develop properly. It creates many problems at the social level also.
Mrs. Gunjan Tiwari said, “Child marriage shatters the dreams of children. We have to stop it together. Children should know their rights and can come forward and protect themselves.”
When and where did this program take place?
This awareness program was recently organized in Gram Panchayat Kondri. Under the ‘Child Marriage Free India’ campaign, such programs are being run across the country, so that this message reaches every village. One Stop Center team is actively working in districts like Moradabad.
Where is the problem and why is awareness important?
Child marriage still occurs in many villages, mainly due to poverty, illiteracy and old traditions. This has a negative impact on the health, education and future of children. Girls have to face the compulsion of becoming mothers early, which can even put their lives in danger. Legally this is a crime, but due to lack of awareness people ignore it.
The team stressed that stopping child marriage is not just a matter of law, but the responsibility of society. If we give children a chance to study and grow up, then they themselves will become strong and the country will move forward.
How to stop child marriage? What should common people do?
The easiest way is to give information. If any child marriage is going to happen or is happening near you, then call the child helpline 1098 without any fear. This number works 24 hours and your complaint is processed immediately.
Organizations like One Stop Center have been created to help women and children. Legal advice, counseling and necessary assistance is available here. An appeal was made to the villagers to send their children to school, get them married at the right age and inspire others to do the same.
After this program, awareness has increased among the people in Kondri village. Many parents said that they will no longer marry their daughters in a hurry. With such a campaign, it is expected that soon our country will truly become free from child marriage.
If you also want to contribute in stopping child marriage, then spread awareness in your area today. Remember, one small step can save many lives!
