Train Ticket Rule : There is an important news for those traveling by train. Indian Railwayshas made changes in the process of making reservation i.e. reservation chart. Under this, passengers will now get information about their ticket status 10 hours in advance. The Railway Board has now extended this time significantly so that passengers can know their ticket status faster and plan their journey better. This change is particularly beneficial for long-distance rail journeys, connecting trains or combining connecting buses/flights from the city.
Now trains departing from 5:00 am to 2:00 pm will be charted by 8:00 pm the previous day. Whereas for other trains, charts will be prepared 10 hours in advance. Before reaching the station and realizing at the last moment that your ticket is not confirmed, you can make alternative arrangements in time.

Indian Railways has now extended the time to prepare the first reservation chart.
1. For trains running from 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The chart will be prepared by 8:00 PM on the previous day. This will allow passengers to know the status of their tickets before planning their day.
2. Trains running from 2:01 PM to 11:59 PM and trains running from 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM. The chart will be prepared at least 10 hours before the departure of the train.
This means that if your the train If it departs at 10:00 PM, the chart will be created around 12:00 PM.
This change has now been implemented across all zonal railway divisions, which will bring clarity and consistency to passengers in chart preparation time.
Why was this change necessary?
Waitlisted passengers often don’t know their ticket status until the last minute of departure, making planning difficult, especially for those traveling from afar.
Earlier, the chart was prepared only 4 hours in advance, allowing passengers to know their seat availability till the last minute.
Now, the chart will be prepared 10 hours in advance (or at 8pm the previous day), giving passengers advance information.
