Sports Minister honored the Indian team that won the World Squash Cup, said- this is a moment of pride

New Delhi. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, while honoring the Indian Squash team which created history by winning the World Cup, said that this is a proud moment for the sports world of the country. Mandaviya paid tribute to the mixed team of Joshna Chinappa, Abhay Singh, Velavan Senthil Kumar and Anahat Singh that won India its maiden World Cup in Chennai last Saturday. The best performance before this was the bronze medal won in 2023. India defeated Hong Kong 3-0 in the final. With this, India became the fourth country to win the World Cup after Australia, England and Egypt.

Mandaviya said, “This is a proud moment for Indian sports. India is performing very well in sports. History is being created one after the other. Our women’s cricket team also won the World Cup recently.” He said, ”Our squash team won the World Cup on our soil which is a proud moment. Our team did not lose a single match in the entire competition. I am happy that the sports world will continue to achieve achievements for the country in the times to come.” India’s top squash players also have the support of Target Olympic Podium (TOPS).
