Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer involved in heated exchange as Australia dominate England in 3rd Ashes Test
Overview:
Archer responded by taking Starc’s wicket, but the heated argument continued during the celebration as well.
England Test captain Ben Stokes and fast bowler Jofra Archer were involved in a heated exchange during Day 2 of the third Ashes Test against Australia. The hosts resumed at 326/8, with Mitchell Starc looking in good touch. The southpaw hit four boundaries in quick succession to complete his fifty.
Stokes was seen talking to Archer, with the skipper showing frustration at the wayward line and length of the speedster. Archer responded by taking Starc’s wicket, but the heated argument continued during the celebration as well.
Stokes instructed Archer to concentrate on his line and length and bowl according to the field.
Ricky Ponting, who was in the commentary box, reacted to the incident. “Stokes had a conversation with Archer, and it led to the fall of a wicket. Stokes reacted after England dismissed a batter,” he said.

“It went on a bit longer, and Stokes went straight to Archer. A bit of a slap around his own face from Jofra. Stokes may have wanted to do that as well,” he added.
Pat Cummins (3 wickets) and Nathan Lyon (2 wickets) were magnificent with the ball as England finished on 213/8 in reply to Australia’s 371 on Day 2. England looked in a strong position when they managed to restrict the Aussies, but the visiting batters faltered in front of the host nation.
