Shubman Gill Ruled Out of T20I Series vs South Africa Due to Injury

In an important event, Shubman Gill, India’s ODI captain and T20I vice-captain, will not be available for the fourth T20I of the five-match series against South Africa at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. The 26 – year – old player had to make this decision, along with others, because of a foot injury, as reported by Cricbuzz and PTI.
According to the Cricbuzz report, Gill had received the injury during his training with the squad.
Shubman Gill’s current situation is a mix of bad and worse
“Out-of-form India vice-captain Shubman Gill has been ruled out of the last two T20I games against South Africa with a toe injury. It is learnt that Gill has sustained the injury during training session and all precautionary measures are being taken to ensure his speedy recovery,” a PTI report read.
While the toss has been delayed due to extreme fog in Lucknow, the PTI report further added that Sanju Samson is expected to open the batting alongside Abhishek Sharma in the forthcoming contest.
Needless to say, Gill’s injury won’t hamper India much, as Samson is a like-for-like replacement of the 26-year-old in their playing XI
Gill scored 4, 0 and a run-a-ball 28 respectively in the ongoing South Africa series before he was injured. However, if Samson is indeed pushing the envelope to get his spot back in the lineup, things might change dramatically if CSK’s new IPL recruit proves to be the right player at the right time.
IND one win left to claim the T20I series over SA
Having been 2-1 up, a win in Lucknow would lead India to the T20I series after the ODI win. The home team lost terribly to the WTC champions in the Test series and would be very eager to turn the overall atmosphere around by beating them in the fastest format of the game.
