Chhattisgarh Encounter: Three rewarded Maoists killed in encounter with security forces, huge quantity of weapons and explosives recovered
Sukma. Three Maoists, including a woman, were killed in an encounter between security forces and Maoists on Thursday in the forests of Gondiguda in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. All the killed Maoists are active members of Konta-Kistaram Area Committee and a total reward of Rs 12 lakh was declared on them.
After the encounter, security forces have recovered a large consignment of weapons, explosives and Naxalite material from the spot. This action of the security forces is being considered a major success of the anti-Naxal operation in Sukma district. According to the police, two men killed in the encounter were Maoist Area Committee members, who had a reward of Rs 5 lakh each, while a woman was a Maoist LOS member, who had a reward of Rs 2 lakh.
The names of the killed Maoists are Madvi Joga alias Munna, resident of District Narayanpur, ACM Konta Area Committee, Sodhi Bundi Singhan, resident of ACM Kistaram Area Committee and Nuppo Bajni, resident of Tekalguda Jagargunda, LOS member Kistaram Area Committee. All of them had been active in Konta and Kistaram areas for a long time and were involved in many serious Naxalite incidents.
During the search of the encounter site, security forces have recovered a huge quantity of explosive materials and Naxalite material including 9 mm service pistol, 12 bore loaded gun, BGL cell, tiffin bomb. According to police officials, on concrete information about the presence of Maoists in Gondiguda area, the DRG team had started the search operation, during which there was intermittent firing since morning and the encounter started.
Bastar Range Inspector General of Police Sundarraj Pattalingam said that so far in the year 2025, 255 Maoists, including members of the Central Committee and top cadre, have been killed in the joint action of security forces, which shows the continuously weakening condition of the Maoist organization. He appealed to the remaining active Maoists to give up violence and take advantage of the surrender and rehabilitation policy.
