“Why don’t you just leave?” Gabriel Jesus breaks silence on Arsenal exit talks

Gabriel Jesus has addressed growing speculation over his future at Arsenal, making it clear that leaving the club has never been an option despite repeated suggestions from outsiders. In an emotional letter published by The Players’ Tribune, the Brazilian forward revealed that he has been asked why he doesn’t move to Saudi Arabia or return to Brazil, questions he firmly rejected as he spoke about his determination to succeed in north London.

The Arsenal striker opened up about the mental toll of his long-term ACL injury, admitting he “mentally collapsed” after learning he would be sidelined for nearly a year. Jesus described enduring “300 bad days in a row,” with his life reduced to a cycle of treatment and recovery, relying heavily on his family to get through what he called the darkest period of his career.

Beyond football, Jesus also revealed the personal trauma his family faced during the birth of his daughter, Helena, and the guilt he felt having to leave just a day later to join Brazil’s national team. Despite the emotional strain and ongoing criticism over his form, the 27-year-old insisted his motivation remains unchanged and deeply personal.
