Twenty years of MGNREGA’s work destroyed in a single day; Rahul Gandhi’s attack on VB-G RAM G

The central government has decided to rename the MGNREGA scheme as VB-G RAM G. Due to this, the chanting of the name of Ram will continue in the mouths of common farmers. Mahatma Gandhi’s (Mahatma Gandhi) Congress has expressed strong displeasure over the deletion of the name. The bill in this context has been passed in the Lok Sabha and due to this the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi (Rahul Gandhi) has targeted the Modi government by posting on social media.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has expressed his displeasure against this bill by posting on the social media platform X. Rahul Gandhi wrote, “Last night, the Modi government destroyed twenty years of MGNREGA work in a single day. VB–G RAM G is not a ‘restructuring’ of MGNREGA. It is ending the rights-based, demand-based guarantee scheme and turning it into a ration scheme controlled from Delhi. The scheme is fundamentally anti-state and anti-village. MGNREGA gave rural laborers bargaining power. With genuine alternatives, exploitation and Migration for food has decreased, wages have increased, working conditions have improved, and at the same time rural infrastructure has been created and revitalized. This is exactly the power that the government wants to destroy,” alleged Rahul Gandhi.

He further wrote, “By limiting work and creating more avenues to refuse work, the VB–G RAM G is weakening the only resource available to the rural poor. We saw the importance of MNREGA during the Covid era. When the economy stalled and livelihoods collapsed, the scheme saved millions from starvation and debt. And it benefited women the most – over the years, women have contributed more than half of the total working days. When you look at employment When the program implements the ration system, women, Dalits, tribals, landless laborers and the poorest OBC communities are the first to be pushed out.”

“To top it all off, this law was passed in parliament without proper scrutiny. The opposition’s demand to refer the bill to a standing committee was rejected. A law that alters the rural social contract and affects millions of workers should never be passed without serious committee scrutiny, expert advice and public hearings. PM Modi’s aim is clear: to weaken labour, reduce the power of rural India, especially Dalits, OBCs and tribals, centralize power and then ‘reform’ So the slogan is selling,” alleged Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.

MGNREGA is one of the most successful poverty alleviation and empowerment programs in the world. We will not allow this government to destroy this last bulwark of protection for the rural poor. We will stand with workers, panchayats and states to defeat this decision and build a nationwide front to ensure that this law is withdrawn,” he said.
