After strongly condemning Nitish Kumar’s actions, Iltija Mufti, daughter of former Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, reached Kothibagh police station to register an FIR against Nitish. Earlier, FIRs have also been lodged against Nitish in Ranchi and Lucknow. Apart from this, protests have also taken place against him in many parts of the country including Bihar. Iltija Mufti wanted to go with the march to the PDP office to lodge a complaint. Strict police restrictions did not allow the march, but the police gave permission to some people along with Iltija to come to the police station. While talking, Iltija said that on the statement of Nitish Kumar, statements of other BJP leaders have also come in his support, here one Giriraj Singh asked Muslims to go to hell, why should we Muslims go to hell?

Earlier, the effigy of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was burnt by members of Jharkhand Muslim Yuva Manch with slogans of ‘Hindustan will not tolerate insult to women’ in Ranchi. Apart from this, FIR was also lodged against him in Ranchi. Famous poet Munawwar Rana’s daughter and activist Sumaiya Rana has lodged an FIR against CM Nitish Kumar and Sanjay Nishad at Kaiserbagh police station in Lucknow. Sumaiya Rana said that this incident sets a dangerous example for the society.

Opposition parties and Muslim community organizations demanded Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to apologize unconditionally to the victim. Also, the victim, hurt by this incident, has decided not to join Bihar Medical Service. Amnesty International, an international human rights monitoring organization, has expressed concern over the Chief Minister pulling the hijab of a Muslim woman.
