Shilpa Shetty’s statement on the news of income tax raid
Bollywood actress and famous industrialist Raj Kundra’s wife Shilpa Shetty is once again in the headlines. Media reports claimed that the Income Tax Department raided his Mumbai residence and the luxury restaurant ‘Bastion’ he co-owned in Bengaluru. It was told that this action was taken in connection with the investigation of financial transactions and alleged tax irregularities related to the restaurant. On which Shilpa Shetty Kundra has issued a statement completely rejecting the claims.
According to sources, the department’s teams conducted a thorough investigation of income, investments and other financial documents. In some reports, this action was also linked to an old alleged fraud case of around Rs 60 crore involving Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra.
After these claims came to light, Shilpa Shetty issued an official statement and presented her stand and completely rejected the news going on in the media. The actress said that the attempt to link her name in this entire matter is baseless and it has hurt her deeply. He clarified that his association with the company whose name was appearing in these reports was only at a non-executive level. According to him, he had no role in the company’s operations, financial management or decision-making process.
Shilpa Shetty also said that she only professionally endorsed some products of a home shopping channel, the payments for which are still pending. According to him, a loan of about Rs 20 crore was given to the company by the family, which has not been returned yet. The actress termed the sudden revelation of her name in the context of a nine-year-old investigation as inappropriate and legally unacceptable.
In her statement, Shilpa Shetty said that such rumors not only distort the facts but also hurt the dignity and reputation of a woman in public. Quoting the Bhagavad Gita, he said, “When it is your duty to oppose injustice, and you fail to do so, that in itself is adharma.” The actress also informed that she has filed a quashing petition in the Bombay High Court, which is currently under consideration.
Shilpa Shetty expressed full faith in the judicial process and appealed to the media to report responsibly only after checking the veracity of the facts. At present, no detailed official statement has come out from the Income Tax Department regarding this alleged action. The investigation is ongoing and all eyes are on further action.
