Dileep’s comeback film made a tremendous opening of ₹6.75 crore – Obnews

Dileep’s action-comedy *Bha Bha Ba*, which marks his comeback to the big screen after his acquittal in the 2017 actor attack case, released worldwide on December 18, 2025 and has collected a whopping **₹6.75 crore** on the first day, as per reports from trackers like Sacnilk and Trade Source.

The film benefited greatly from the extended cameo of superstar Mohanlal, whose dance and antics created a lot of buzz in the trailer even before its release. Despite mixed to mixed reviews—praising the comedy and energy but criticizing the script’s shortcomings—“The Mohanlal Factor” attracted family audiences, leading to good occupancy in Kerala.

The overall Malayalam occupancy was around **66.81%**, with the breakdown showing that the morning show had ~63%, the afternoon show had ~58%, the evening show had ~67% and the night show had the highest occupancy of ~79%. As per early estimates, it is one of the top Malayalam opening films of 2025.

Directed by debut director Dhananjay Shankar and written by Faheem Safar-Noorin Sharif, *Bha Bha Ba* (meaning fear, devotion, respect) sees Dileep’s eccentric character kidnap the Chief Minister of Kerala (played by an actor) to get justice. The cast includes Vineeth Sreenivasan, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Balu Varghese, Saranya Ponvannan and Radin Kingsley.

Produced by Sri Gokulam Movies, the film has music by Shaan Rahman and Gopi Sundar, cinematography by Armo and editing by Ranjan Abraham. The weekend’s performance will depend on word-of-mouth among different reactions.
