Sharad Pawar will show ‘power’ for BMC elections, important meeting on many issues including seat sharing in MVA

These days, there is a stir in coalition politics in Maharashtra regarding BMC elections 2026. The biggest dilemma is arising regarding seat sharing, regarding which a round of meetings is going on. In this sequence, the important meeting of Nationalist Congress Party Sharadchandra Pawar’s Mumbai region will be held today i.e. on 19th December at Silver Oak in Mumbai.

This meeting is being considered very important for deciding the election strategy with Mahavikas Aghadi and finalizing the seat proposal, because it will indicate the direction and strength of the alliance.

Party’s National President Sharad Pawar himself will be present in this meeting to be held at Silver Oak, which further increases the importance of the decision process. Mumbai President Rakhi Jadhav will present a detailed proposal in this meeting on how many seats the party should get if it contests elections in collaboration with Mahavikas Aghadi.

According to party sources, this proposal has been prepared on the basis of ground situation of Mumbai, organizational strength and past election experiences. Senior officials and regional representatives of Mumbai will also attend the meeting.

In the party meeting held two days ago, the workers had openly expressed their views and most of them advocated going with the Thackeray brothers. Activists believe that considering the urban voter equation and local issues, being with Mahavikas Aghadi will be beneficial for the party. Since this meeting is taking place before the joint meeting of Mahavikas Aghadi to be held on Sunday, its strategic importance increases further. Sources reveal that the party, while in alliance, has prepared a proposal for 22 seats, which will be brainstormed today.

Let us tell you that voting for all 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra will be conducted in a single phase on January 15, 2026, while counting of votes will take place on January 16, 2026. As soon as the program was announced, the preparations of political parties have intensified and it has become mandatory to take a decision on seat sharing soon.
