World Games 2025: Indian Wushu player Namrata Batra creates history, wins silver medal Gujarati

New Delhi: Indian female Wushu player Namrata Batra has created history in the World Games 2025 going on in Chengdu, China. He has made the country proud by winning the first World Games silver medal for India in the Wushu Games on Tuesday.

Namrata had to face 0-2 defeat against Mengyu Chen of China in the final of women’s sanda 52 kg, but this silver medal win is a big achievement for India.

In these Games, India had fielded three entries in Wushu Sanda events. Asian Games 2023 silver medalists Roshibina Devi Naorem and Abhishek Jamwal both lost in the quarterfinals.

With Namrata’s silver medal, India has won a total of seven medals in the history of the World Games, which includes one gold, two silver and four bronze medals. This achievement will prove to be inspiring to promote sports like Wushu in India.
