Noida, 19 DecemberDelhi-NCR is once again in the grip of severe air pollution, According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) and IMD, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in most areas of Delhi and Noida has crossed 300 to 450, which falls in the ‘severe’ category, The situation is so bad that people are having difficulty in breathing and cases of eye irritation, cough and respiratory diseases are increasing, Noida has the most severe level of pollution,
According to official data, Noida’s Sector-1 recorded AQI of 468, which is the highest in entire Delhi-NCR. Apart from this, AQI was recorded at 422 in Sector-125, 420 in Sector-116 and 366 in Sector-62. That means the air quality remains very poor at all the active stations of Noida. In view of increasing pollution, Noida is also demanding strict steps on the lines of Delhi. The situation remains worrying in many areas of Delhi also. AQI also remains at critical level in various areas of Delhi.
Anand Vihar 437, R.K. Puram recorded 436, Vivek Vihar 436, Wazirpur 404, Rohini 396, Ashok Vihar 391 and Chandni Chowk 386 AQI. Even in areas like Alipore, Burari Crossing and DTU the AQI remained above 300. This is a clear indication that the entire capital and NCR region is wrapped in a blanket of pollution.
According to IMD, there is dense fog in Delhi-NCR in the morning. A ‘dense fog’ warning was issued on 19 December, while moderate to dense fog is likely to persist in the coming days. The humidity level has reached 95 to 100 percent, due to which pollutants are staying in the air for a long time.
After increasing pollution, Graded Response Action Plan (Grape-4) has been implemented. The administration launched a strict campaign against violation of rules. In Noida, action was taken at 10 places and a fine of Rs 3.40 lakh was collected, while in Greater Noida, a fine of Rs 49.45 lakh was imposed at 46 places. Traffic police at Delhi-Noida border are stopping vehicles below BS-6 standard from entering Delhi and turning them back. Due to this, traffic on the border is also being affected.
In view of increasing pollution, people are demanding work from home in Noida on the lines of Delhi. In Gautam Buddha Nagar district, children’s education is being conducted in hybrid mode, so that there is less impact on the health of the students. Besides, sports and outdoor activities have also been banned.
