New Delhi: Winter is in full swing, fog has kept its pace and on top of that, the new alert issued by the Meteorological Department makes it clear that rains and storms are not going to be left behind. According to the latest forecast of India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is going to be heavy rain in many parts of the country for the next 5 days. At some places there will be heavy rain with thunder and lightning and at other places there will be snowfall and strong winds.

Rain alert from Jammu and Kashmir to Tamil Nadu

The Meteorological Department says that from December 18 to December 23, there may be rain and thundershowers from Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand to southern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep. There is also a possibility of hailstorm at many places.

Red alert of heavy rain and snowfall on December 21

Especially on December 21, there is a warning of heavy rain and snowfall in many areas of Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad. On 20th and 21st December, strong winds along with rain or snowfall may occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

There will be no relief even in Punjab

The Meteorological Department has not given any good news for the people of Punjab also. Light to moderate rain is expected in different parts of the state on December 20 and 21.

Fog and severe cold also continue

Along with rain, cold and fog will also continue to trouble people in North India. From December 18 to 22, there will be dense to very dense fog in the morning and evening in many states including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR. There is a possibility of very dense fog in the morning in Uttarakhand also from 18th to 21st December. The effect of fog will also be visible in some states of North-East India.
