Tripura CM Manik Saha said – India is keeping a close eye on the situation in Bangladesh, ready to deal with every challenge.

Agartala, 19 December. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday said the Indian government is closely monitoring the evolving situation in Bangladesh and is fully prepared to deal with any possible challenge.

It is noteworthy that after the murder of Sharif Usman Hadi, the spokesperson of the fundamentalist organization ‘Inquilab Manch’, many incidents of violence have come to light in different cities of Bangladesh. Hadi was undergoing treatment in a hospital in Singapore. The protesters thrashed a Hindu youth to death and set fire to the offices of some news channels, including that of a journalist. The houses of many former leaders including former President Sheikh Mujibur Rahman were vandalized and set on fire.

Responding to the current situation in Bangladesh, Chief Minister Saha said that after the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from power, many worrying and destructive incidents have come to light in the neighboring country. Tripura Government is regularly sending detailed reports of all developments related to cross border situations to the Central Government.

Indian armed forces are always ready to deal with every situation.

Manik Saha said during a government program, ‘Notorious terrorists, criminals and people involved in various cases have been released from the jails of Bangladesh.’ He said that India and its armed forces are always ready to deal with every situation. The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is fully aware of the developments taking place in Bangladesh and is continuously monitoring the situation.

Remarkable advances in our drone surveillance systems

Saha said, ‘There has been significant progress in our drone surveillance systems. The S-400 mobile long-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) system has already proven its capabilities. Security arrangements at the border are strong and all necessary steps have been taken.

Paramilitary forces increased vigil on international border

He also informed that after the outbreak of violence in Bangladesh in June-July 2024, especially after the fall of Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government on August 5, 2024, paramilitary forces have increased vigil along the international border and border dominance has been further tightened.

Tripura’s border with Bangladesh 856 kilometers long

It is noteworthy that Tripura has an 856 km long border with Bangladesh. The state, being surrounded by neighboring countries on three sides, remains extremely sensitive to developments across the border.

Foreign Ministry summoned India’s High Commissioner Riyaz Hamidullah

Earlier, on December 17, the Ministry of External Affairs had summoned Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to India, Riyaz Hamidullah, and informed him about New Delhi’s serious concerns over the deteriorating security situation in Bangladesh. There are reports of a sharp increase in violence and further deterioration of the law and order situation in Bangladesh under the interim government led by Mohammad Yunus.
