Ather Energy is gearing up to launch a new and affordable electric scooter in India soon. The company has filed a patent for the design of this scooter and the possibility of this scooter becoming a reality has strengthened. The new scooter will be based on Ather’s EL01 concept and will be designed keeping in mind the budget of the general consumer. Ather has taken this important step to compete with brands like Ola in the market.

After the success of Rizta, Ather’s new innings

Ather’s 450 series scooters have already made the company well known. Ather then launched Rizta, a scooter designed for family use. In no time, Rizta became one of the best selling electric scooters in India. Now building on this success, Ather is all set to launch another affordable electric scooter to convert more people to electric vehicles.

When can Ather EL01 be launched?

The Ather EL01 concept was first presented at the Ather Community Day 2025. The company also showcased its new EL platform at the same event. An official launch date was not announced at that time. But now that the design patent has surfaced, the EL01 is expected to be the first scooter based on this new platform. This scooter is likely to be launched in 2026.

What will be special about the design?

Although the Ather EL01 will have the same design as the Rizta, it will be kept more affordable. It gets LED headlights, slim LED DRLs at the front, clean and sleek body panels, one-piece seats and a backrest for the rear passenger. There is also a possibility of providing indicators on the front apron. The concept model featured a 7-inch screen, which would provide the rider with the necessary information. Overall this scooter could be a cheaper and simpler avatar of the Rizta.

Expectations regarding battery and range

In Ather EL01 the battery pack can be provided under the floorboard. This new EL platform will support batteries ranging from 2 kWh to 5 kWh. Different battery options are likely to be available depending on customer needs. Once fully charged, this scooter can have a range of around 150 kilometers.
