Vladimir Putin at Rajghat : New Delhi : Russian President Vladimir Putin is currently on a visit to India. Putin’s two-day visit has attracted the attention of the whole world. Putin has entered Rajghat during his visit to India. Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi) was honored by Vladimir Putin. They placed a wreath decorated with the colors of the Russian flag on the mausoleum and paid their respects to Gandhiji. On this occasion Putin (Vladimir Putin) shared a special message in the visitor’s book, emphasizing the global contribution of Mahatma Gandhi and the relevance of his ideology. Putin said that Russia and India continue to support the principles envisioned by Gandhi.
Putin bowed his head at Rajghat
After the arrival of Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Rajghat, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh welcomed him and briefed him on etiquette. Putin first placed a chakra (circle) decorated with the colors of the Russian flag on Mahatma Gandhi’s mausoleum and paid his respects. As per Indian tradition, they also offered rose petals at the tomb and bowed their heads in reverence.

A visit to Rajghat is a mandatory protocol for foreign heads of state in India, reflecting India’s values and respect. Putin’s expression reflected a sense of solemnity and respect for Gandhiji’s global influence. After paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, President Putin wrote a special message in the visitor’s book that attracted worldwide attention. He described Gandhiji as “one of the founders of the modern Indian nation” and called him a great man and humanitarian.

President Putin ended his message by explaining the foundations of India-Russia partnership. He emphasized that today Russia and India are supporting these principles (equality and mutual respect) at the international level. Putin wrote that Gandhiji made an invaluable contribution to peace in the world. He emphasized that Gandhiji’s ideology of freedom, virtue and humanity is as relevant today as it was in his time. Putin also recalled that Gandhi envisioned a new, more just and multipolar world order, and that this order is taking shape today. He also referred to the correspondence between Russian philosopher Leo Tolstoy and Gandhiji, which discussed a world based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and non-dominance.
