Washington shaken by Donald Trump’s statement that I don’t need anyone’s permission to attack Venezuela

News India Live, Digital Desk: There is an earthquake in American politics at the moment, and the reason is President Donald Trump. Trump, famous for his outspoken and tough decisions, has once again made such a claim which has created a stir not only in America but in the entire world. The issue is related to the South American country Venezuela. Trump has clearly said that if there is a military strike on Venezuela, then there is no need to wait for the approval of the US Parliament (Congress). What is the whole matter? It is often seen that before launching a major attack or war on any country, the US President has to take permission from the Congress or at least consult it. But Donald Trump’s style has always been different. According to a report, the Trump administration believes that the President has so much power under the Constitution that he can take such a decision himself in the name of national security. This statement of Trump is being seen as a new interpretation of the “War Powers Act”. He has indirectly expressed that if he felt that America’s interests were threatened, he would not hesitate to send troops to Venezuela or conduct air strikes, and for this he would not wait for long debates in Washington DC. Trump’s claim of face to face with Congress and the President has troubled American senators and lawmakers. The Democratic Party and even some Republican leaders believe that the right to take decisions like war should not be in the hands of just one man. They argue that according to the Constitution, Congress has the right to ‘declare war’. But the Trump camp argues that if the situation in Venezuela goes out of control, or the American citizens present there are in danger, then the President, being the ‘Commander-in-Chief’, has the full right to take immediate action. The world’s eyes on America. Relations between Venezuela and America have been straining for the last several years. America has always been strict regarding the political crisis there and oil trade. Now this “blatant” statement of Trump has indicated that America will not reduce aggression in its foreign policy. Now it remains to be seen whether Congress creates any legal complications on this or Trump demonstrates his power. At present, this statement of Trump has forced the world to think whether any new conflict can be seen in 2026?
