Oscar Awards 2029: Now Oscar Awards will be shown only on YouTube, not on TV, know what is the reason?
New Delhi. There is going to be a big change regarding the Oscar Awards, the most prestigious awards ceremony of the entertainment world. The Oscars will now be shown live only on YouTube from 2029. Its official announcement has been made by the Oscar awarding body Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).

Oscars will be shown only on ABC channel till 2028
This change will not happen immediately. The Oscars will continue to air on ABC TV channel until its 100th anniversary (2028). From 2029, the old partnership between ABC and Oscar will end and the show will shift completely to YouTube.

Not only the main Oscar show but many other programs will also come on YouTube like-

What did the academy say?
Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Lynette Howell Taylor said, “This partnership with YouTube will help us reach audiences around the world. The Oscars are a global event and this move will be beneficial to the film community”.
Why is this change happening?
Nowadays the viewership of award shows on TV is decreasing. That’s why big award shows are now moving towards streaming platforms. Earlier in 2023, Netflix had purchased the rights of SAG Awards, which are considered an important award before the Oscars.
