It was difficult to remove the mask of the female doctor on the stage, Grand Mufti said Nitish Babu, this is the blood of both religion and shame.

News India Live, Digital Desk: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is in the headlines these days due to his strange antics, but this time the matter has gone beyond laughter and has directly reached ‘insult’ and ‘religious sentiments’. The way he publicly tried to remove the hijab (niqab) of a Muslim female doctor at a program in Patna, shocked the entire country. Now a very sharp voice has been raised from Jammu and Kashmir in this matter. Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, the biggest religious leader there, has expressed strong objection to this incident and has called it an insult to the entire Muslim society. What did the Grand Mufti say? After the video went viral, the Grand Mufti’s anger is at its peak. He said in clear words that this act is not misbehavior with any one woman, but with the 22 crore Muslims of India. He reminded Nitish Kumar that we live in a country where the Constitution gives everyone the freedom to live according to their religion and traditions. Mufti Saheb said, “The post of a Chief Minister is very responsible. If he plays with the privacy and religious identity of a woman in a public gathering, then what will the general public learn? This is a gross violation of both the Constitution and decorum.” What was that incident? (Understand the matter) Actually, a program of the Health Department was going on in Patna. A Muslim lady doctor came on stage to collect her job letter. He was wearing a mask on his face. Nitish Kumar interrupted him, gestured and allegedly tried to remove/pull his mask. Some people present there laughed it off, but as soon as this clip came on social media, people started asking questions, what kind of ‘good governance’ is it to make someone remove their clothes? “Stop interfering in religion.” Grand Mufti said a very important thing in his statement. He said, “Hijab or niqab is part of the identity and dignity of Muslim women. No leader, no matter how big, has the right to interfere in our religious matters.” He described it as “the height of shamelessness” and said that such behavior can never be forgiven. Stirring in political circles: Its echo is being heard not only among religious leaders but also in political circles. Leaders like Mehbooba Mufti and Iltija Mufti have also described it as “the real face being exposed”. People are surprised that Nitish Kumar, who once used to talk about secularism, is now doing such things which make anyone uncomfortable. A thing to think about, in the end the question is for all of us, is such bickering on a public platform about a woman’s clothes or niqab a sign of a civilized society? Grand Mufti’s anger perhaps reflects the fact that to show respect, it is not necessary to take off one’s clothes, but to respect someone’s choice. What do you think about this? Was this action of Nitish Kumar justified?
