Singer has termed the statement given by his ex-wife as defamation and has demanded compensation of Rs 30 lakh from his ex-wife Rita. This case was heard in the court on 17 December 2025. Rita Bhattacharya’s allegation

According to the petition filed by singer Kumar Sanu, Rita Bhattacharya told in several interviews that Kumar Sanu had misbehaved with her during her pregnancy. In several interviews, Rita claimed that Kumar Sanu locked her in the kitchen during her pregnancy, kept her hungry, and did not give her milk and medical care. Along with this, Kumar Sanu’s first wife alleged that Kumar Sanu had many affairs while being married. He never paid attention to his family.

30 compensation of lakh rupees

This interview of Rita Bhattacharya went viral on social media in September 2025. After this, Singer Kumar Sanu resorted to legal action to deal with this. Kumar Sanu filed a defamation case against Rita Bhattacharya. In this petition it was said that the image of Kumar Sanu has suffered a lot due to these statements of the singer’s ex-wife. He has suffered a lot mentally. A compensation of Rs 30 lakh has also been demanded from its singer.

Kumar Sanu’s lawyer

Kumar Sanu’s lawyer Advocate Sana Raees Khan said, this statement given by Rita Bhattacharya is a violation of the terms of their divorce consent signed in Bandra Family Court on February 9, 2001, in which it is clearly written that in future neither party can accuse the other party. Therefore, on September 27, a legal notice was issued against Rita Bhattacharya and media portals. On September 27, a legal notice was sent to Rita Bhattacharya and media portals, warning them to remove the interview. If they do not do so then they will be criminally prosecuted.
