America conducts airstrike on Syria, ISIS hideouts destroyed, action taken after death of 3 US citizens
America has once again launched a major military operation against the Islamic State in Syria. After the death of American soldiers in the deadly attack in Palmyra area, the Pentagon decided to give a strong response. After this attack, the US Army has started ‘Operation Hawkeye Strike’, the objective of which is said to be to completely destroy the ISIS network.
Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, while giving information on the social media platform This military action has been initiated in response to this attack. He said in clear words that America will not tolerate attacks on its citizens and soldiers and anyone who targets Americans anywhere in the world will be pursued and eliminated.
According to US officials, as part of this campaign, about 70 targets linked to ISIS in central Syria have been attacked. These included hiding places of terrorists, weapons storage centers and training bases. The Pentagon has indicated that depending on the situation, more military action may be taken in the coming days.
In this operation, America and its allied countries demonstrated their military strength. F-15 Eagle fighter jets, A-10 Thunderbolt attack aircraft, AH-64 Apache helicopters and HIMARS rocket systems were used in the strikes. Apart from this, Jordanian F-16 fighter planes also took part in the operation.
US President Donald Trump has also reacted to this military action. He wrote on social media that these attacks are targeting the strong strongholds of ISIS. Trump warned that any terrorist organization that tries to attack or threaten America will be given a more dangerous response than ever before. He also reiterated his support for Syria’s interim President Ahmed al-Shaara.
After the removal of Bashar al-Assad from power, there has been a new turn in the relations between America and Syria. Recently, interim President Ahmed al-Shaara visited Washington and met with the US leadership. This marked the first time since 1946 that a Syrian president visited the White House.
