Is Donald Trump taking anti-Alzheimer’s drug? Why US lawmaker is ‘asking questions’ about his health- The Week

A congresswoman on Friday doubled down on her theory that US President Donald Trump was taking medication for Alzheimer’s disease.

Democrat Sydney Kamlager-Dove had earlier speculated that Trump might be taking Leqembi, an anti-Alzheimer’s drug.

She had pointed out that the drug was often administered through an infusion (often via the hand) to explain the bruises. She added that it often caused tiredness to explain his naps during Oval Office and Cabinet meetings and alleged rambling.

She reposted on Friday saying that she was only “asking questions”, in response to a Truth Social post in which Trump declared that making “FAKE reports” about his health was “seditious, perhaps even treasonous”.

Kamlager-Dove’s post came just an hour after White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked why the 79-year-old had band-aids on his right hand, in a notable shift from his earlier use of makeup to conceal the bruises.

Leavitt reiterated that the bruising was the result of constant hand shaking, as well as an aspirin regimen, which netizens have since dismissed.

However, in one of his most recent public appearances, his right hand was seen without bandages, and with makeup instead.

Trump’s swollen ankles had also raised concerns. After repeated questions from journalists, Leavitt had revealed that the 79-year-old had chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), in which the veins of a person’s body have trouble pushing blood back to the heart.

Trump, however, continues to maintain that he “ACED all three (cognitive tests)” that he had done recently, in addition to “PERFECT Marks” in “long, thorough, and very boring Medical Examinations at the Great Walter Reed National Military Medical Center”.

“I will know when I am ‘slowing up’, but it’s not now!” he added.
