Stage is set for record second weekend; on track to become Ranveer Singh’s first Rs 500 crore film- The Week

It is absolute mayhem at the box office by Dhurandhar. After the initial few days saw impeccable self-funding by the producers that saw an impact of at least 30 percent to the official figures, the sensational word-of-mouth has taken over and the film is now unstoppable. The weekdays have not only stayed stable but shown greater footfalls than the opening day. Unprecedented!

The opening weekend of Dhurandhar came to around Rs 24 crore nett while it jumped to Rs 29 crore on Saturday and recorded a massive Sunday of Rs 37.50 crore nett. These figures, of course, had that massive amount of self-funding from the producers which was blatant and embarrassing. However, since Monday, the film has gone into overdrive with Rs 24-25 crore nett collections on all days.

In fact, Tuesday-Thursday saw jumps from Monday, both in terms of occupancy and collections. On its eighth day, Dhurandhar is set to be the first film ever to touch Rs 30 crore nett in India on its second Friday, thereby setting the stage for a record second weekend and second week. The second weekend alone could go to around Rs 130 crore nett if not more.

The run time of three hours and 30 minutes has barely affected the film’s juggernaut run as it is going berserk across the country. The urban cities had already opened to capacity but the single screen dominated areas, tier-2 and tier-3 circuits have all embraced the film big time. Trends suggest a comfortable Rs 500 crore nett in India for Dhurandharmaking it Ranveer Singh’s first film in the club.

With the sequel of Dhurandhar slated for 19th March 2026, we can expect the initial records to also be decimated, something that Dhurandhar couldn’t do due to surprisingly low buzz and advance booking. The way the film has connected with the audience, you wonder why the producers tried hard in the opening weekend with their self-booking tactics.

Nevertheless, Dhurandhar is a storm that seems unbeatable at the moment, especially with the Christmas and New Year holidays still left to come. The first week collections stand at Rs 185 crore nett and it will fly past Rs 300 crore nett during the second weekend.
