Jio launches CNAP system, there will be a break on fake calls
1
Reliance Jio launches CNAP: Reliance Jio is the country’s largest telecom provider. This company has not only provided affordable recharge plans but has also provided many services for the convenience of the users. There has been a huge increase in the cases of spam calls and online fraud in recent times. To keep its customers safe from these problems, Jio has started CNAP i.e. Caller Name Presentation service.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has decided that other major telecom companies, such as Airtel, BSNL and Vodafone-Idea (Vi), will also have to provide CNAP service. Which means that their users will also get such features soon. Now this question might be arising in your mind that what is CNAP? Let us know about it in detail.
What is CNAP?
CNAP, i.e. Caller Name Presentation, is a service that displays the name of the caller on your mobile screen as soon as the call comes. This service is different from applications like Truecaller, because it shows the same name that the caller has registered with his telecom company. This information is based on accurate documents, hence it is more reliable and cannot be easily changed or falsified.
In which circles is the service available?
Reliance Jio: The service is currently active in West Bengal, Kerala, Bihar, UP East, Rajasthan, Punjab, Assam, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand and Odisha.
Airtel: Airtel has started this service in West Bengal, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
Vodafone-Idea (Vi): This service is operational in Maharashtra, while it is being gradually implemented in Tamil Nadu.
BSNL: BSNL is currently testing this service in West Bengal on a trial basis.
Be careful of silent calls
At present, the Department of Telecommunications and telecom companies are taking new steps regarding the security of mobile users. Meanwhile, DoT has alerted people about silent calls. Silent call is one in which no sound is heard after picking up the phone.
DoT says that this is not a network problem, but it could be a new way to cheat people. DoT has advised people to immediately block such numbers and register their complaint on the ‘Sanchar Sathi’ portal, so that others can also be protected from fraud.
