Nasreen wrote that after this the angry mob attacked Deepu and started beating him badly. Later the police saved him from the crowd and took him into custody, that is, he was under police protection. He says that Deepu told the entire incident to the police and clearly said that he had not made any comment about the Prophet. He also told that this was all a conspiracy of his colleague.

Taslima Nasreen alleged that the police did not take any action against that colleague. He said, “Many people among the police are sympathetic to Jihad. Did the police hand over Dipu to the extremists again because of their fanatical thinking, or did the radicals forcibly take him out of the police station? After this, Dipu was beaten, hanged and burnt.

He also said that Deepu was the sole breadwinner of his family. His earnings were used to support his disabled father, mother, wife and child. Now what will happen to his family is a big question. Who will punish the culprits and who will help the family? Nasreen expressed grief that Deepu’s family does not even have enough money to run away to India to save their lives. The poor have no support, they have neither country nor security, not even any religion.
