Police should provide immediate protection

The court made it clear that neither the court nor the society has the right to pass judgment on the decision of adults to be in a live-in relationship. Unless they have committed a crime. The court gave freedom to the petitioners to contact the SP, SSP and Commissioner. He ordered the police to provide them immediate security.

While hearing the hearing, Justice Singh said that first we have to ensure that both the persons are adults and are living together of their own free will. The court told the police that if age related documents are not available then the age should be confirmed through other legal means.

Why are couples moving to court?

The court said that there has been an increase in cases recently. Because many couples are not getting protection from the police, due to which they have to come to court. A citizen cannot be deprived of his fundamental rights merely because he is not married.
