Shri Krishna and Hanuman were the greatest diplomats, said External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, citing incidents from the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.
New Delhi. India’s Foreign Minister Dr. S. During an event in Pune, Jaishankar, while referring to the Mahabharata and Ramayana texts, described Lord Shri Krishna and Hanuman ji as the world’s greatest diplomats. One is a great diplomat of Mahabharata, the other is a great diplomat of Ramayana. He said that we think that Mahabharata is about power, struggle and family. Similarly, we do not naturally think about the complexities and strategies of Ramayana. Hanuman ji was sent to Sri Lanka to get information. They were successful in getting the information. He even went to meet Mother Sita. He was successful in boosting their morale. Now, if you don’t present this to the world, I think we do a great injustice to our culture.

Jaishankar said how Lord Krishna handled Shishupala patiently. He forgave him 100 times and then punished him. Actually, Jaishankar was asked who is the greatest diplomat in your opinion? Jaishankar told the people present at the program that most of the books that you get are written by western people. I was tired of reading again and again that we are very strategic, but India has no tradition of strategy and governance. We have grown up with our beliefs, our culture.

Jaishankar said, my message to everyone is very simple. Be interested in the world, because the world is taking an interest in you. I tell people, ‘When they say, ‘What should we do’, do anything, as long as you’re interested in it. If you are interested, you will do well. If you’re not interested, it doesn’t matter how much they pay you, you’ll be average. So, maintain your interest.
