Google Pay Credit Card: New chapter in digital payments

**Google Pay** has taken an important step in the digital payments sector of India. In collaboration with **Axis Bank**, the company has launched a new co-branded credit card under the **RuPay** network. The biggest feature of this card is that it will be directly linked to the user’s UPI account, so that instant cashback or rewards can be received on every transaction.

Instant Rewards

While most credit cards reward users at the end of the billing cycle, Google Pay’s new card will offer instant rewards on every transaction. According to **Sharat Bulusu**, Senior Director of the company, users will be able to immediately use the rewards earned from their earlier payment in the next payment.

Combination of UPI and RuPay

The support of **RuPay** and **UPI** operated by NPCI is increasing rapidly. Currently, **Mastercard** and **Visa** cannot be linked to UPI, giving RuPay a significant advantage. Google Pay’s new card will further strengthen this model.

There are already several major players in the UPI linked credit cards space such as **PhonePe**, **Paytm**, **SBI Cards**, and **Cred**. PhonePe has launched a card with **HDFC Bank**, while Paytm has tied up with **Citi** and **HDFC**. In such a situation, the entry of Google Pay is going to further increase this competition.

EMI and convenient repayment

This new card from Google Pay not only offers cashback but also easy repayment options. Users can pay their bills in EMIs of 6 or 9 months. The company believes that credit facilities are still available to very few people in India, and this card will fill that gap.

Cashback structure

Google Pay credit card will give up to 5-10% cashback on its platform. This cashback will be 3-5% on partner apps and websites, while 1-1.5% cashback will be available on UPI scan-and-pay transactions.
