Bareilly, 20 December. Taking another important step towards promoting Para sports in Uttar Pradesh, the 10th UP State Para Powerlifting and Para Athletics Championship 2025-26 started here from Saturday. Bareilly Mayor Umesh Gautam inaugurated this two-day sports festival at BL Agro Stadium.
Under the supervision of UP Para Sports Association, this championship is being organized by Bareilly Para Sports Association in collaboration with BL Agro and para-athletes from different districts of the state are participating in it.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Ghanshyam Khandelwal, Chairman of BL Agro, Ashish Khandelwal, Patron of UP Para Sports Association and Managing Director of BL Agro and J.P., Chairman of Para-Powerlifting in Paralympic Committee of India and Special Member of UP Para Sports Association. Singh and other special guests were present.
Many Paralympians also graced the opening ceremony
Athletes from Uttar Pradesh are showing great talent on the global platform and are bringing glory to the country by winning gold, silver and bronze medals. Many well-known athletes were present in this event to inspire and motivate their fellow players. Special guests included Sakshi Kasana (Olympian, Discus Throw), Preeti Pal (Paralympic Bronze Medalist – Para Athletics), Simran Sharma (Paralympic Bronze Medalist – Para Athletics), Vinay (World Champion, Gold Medalist – 72 kg Junior Category), Suvarna Raj (Para Athlete and Medalist – Powerlifting), Zainab Khatoon (Para Athlete and Medalist – Powerlifting) were included.
Chief Guest Umesh Gautam praised the determination and fighting spirit of the para-athletes and stressed the importance of creating an inclusive sports platform that empowers athletes with disabilities. He thanked BL Agro for giving a great start to the Para-Olympic State Championship in Bareilly last year and bringing recognition to the city of Bareilly.

On this occasion, BL Agro Chairman Ghanshyam Khandelwal emphasized on the growing momentum of Para Sports in Uttar Pradesh and reiterated the commitment of the association to promote talent at the grassroots and state level.
Paralympian medal winners Vinay and Arunmoli awarded
In the same program, BL Agro Industries honored Indian Para Powerlifting Star Vinay, gold medalist in 72kg junior category, with a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh and Arunmoli Arunagiri World Para Powerlifting Championship, bronze medalist in 86+ kg category, with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.
Ashish Khandelwal elected president of UP Para Sports Association
During the program, MD of BL Agro. Ashish Khandelwal was elected as the President of Uttar Pradesh Parasports Association. He was earlier the patron of the association.
