New Delhi. The 15-member Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2026 has been announced. There will be a fierce competition between 20 teams in the T20 World Cup starting from 7th February. The final match of the tournament will be played on March 8. India and Sri Lanka are hosting this tournament. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the team. The announcement took place in Mumbai, where captain Suryakumar Yadav and chief selector Ajit Agarkar were also present. The same team will also participate in a five-match T20 series against New Zealand in January. In such a situation, Team India will try to defend the title.

Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Rinku Singh, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Verma, Axar Patel (vice-captain), Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dubey, Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakraborty, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana.
A big surprise was that the current vice-captain Shubman Gill did not get a place in the team. All-rounder Akshar Patel has been appointed vice-captain in his place. Ishan Kishan, who batted brilliantly while captaining Jharkhand in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025, was included as the second wicketkeeper. Rinku Singh, who was out of the recent T20 series against South Africa, has also returned to the team.
Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan were selected as wicketkeepers in the team, while Rishabh Pant was left out. The list of all-rounders includes Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dubey, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar. In the spin department, Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakraborty got a place as pure spinners. Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana will handle the responsibility of fast bowling. Defending champion India will be defending the title in this tournament, which is being played on home soil.
