Shubman Gill could not capitalize on the opportunity he got and hit his own foot with the axe.

He has been rewarded for leading Jharkhand to a historic victory under his captaincy in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) in the form of selection in the team for the New Zealand tour and the upcoming T20 World Cup. Ishan Kishan scored 517 runs in 10 innings in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

The return of Ishan Kishan has made the team equations interesting.
