Railways refutes rumors regarding mobile ticket, digital ticket of UTS app is completely valid

New Delhi. Indian Railways has completely clarified the situation on the misleading news going on on social media and some websites regarding mobile tickets. Railways has said in clear words that the digital ticket shown on the mobile for unreserved journey is completely valid. It has not been made mandatory for passengers to carry its printout.

For the past few days, it was being claimed in many reports and social media posts that Railways has declared mobile tickets invalid and now passengers will have to carry the physical copy of the ticket with them at all costs. Railway sources have termed these claims as completely baseless and misleading. According to Railways, no new circular or order has been issued regarding ticketing rules. The system of UTS app and digital ticketing is implemented as smoothly as before.

Official stand of Railways on UTS ticket

In the clarification issued by the Railways, it has been said that if a passenger has booked a ticket using ‘Paperless Mode’ of the UTS app, then it is enough to show the ticket on the mobile screen during the journey. No printout is required for such tickets. However, it is important that the ticket is available on the same mobile phone from which the booking is made. TTE or checking personnel can check the validity of the ticket on the mobile screen itself.

Who has to get the printout done?

Giving information about the rules, Railways said that printout is mandatory only in a special situation. If the passenger has chosen ‘Paper Mode’ option while booking the ticket in UTS app, then in that case it is mandatory to print the ticket from ATVM (Automatic Ticket Vending Machine) or ticket counter. This rule is already in existence and no changes have been made in it recently.

reason for rumor

According to sources, recently some cases of fraud related to digital tickets were reported, after which the rules started being misinterpreted. On the basis of these incidents, a false claim was spread that Railways is ending the system of mobile tickets. Railways has appealed to passengers to rely only on information released from official sources and not to be misled by unconfirmed news circulating on social media.
