PM Modi reached Assam: Unveiled the statue of the state’s first CM Bordoloi, said – the new sunrise of the country’s future will come from the North-East only.

Guwahati. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the new terminal building of Guwahati Airport and said that the new sun of the country’s future will rise from the North-East which will be led by Assam. Accusing the Congress party of deliberately keeping the entire North-Eastern region away from development, PM Modi said that it (Congress) gave a free hand to infiltrators in Assam for religious appeasement.

Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating the second terminal building of the Lok Sabha Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, the Prime Minister said that today is a day of celebration of development. Modern airport facilities and new means of communication are the pride of new opportunities for a state.

Accusing the Congress and ‘India’ alliance of making statements in favor of infiltrators, he said that when the Election Commission is doing a thorough review of the voter list, the Congress is facing problems. The Prime Minister cautioned the people of Assam from the Congress and said that we have to protect the identity of Assam for which the first Chief Minister of the state, Bordoloi fought.

Let us tell you that Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday unveiled the 80-foot tall statue of Assam’s first Chief Minister Gopinath Bordoloi, installed outside the new terminal of the airport named after him. Bordoloi’s statue was created by renowned artist Ram Sutar, who died on Wednesday at the age of 100.

The carpenter had created the 125 feet high statue of Lachit Borphukan, the famous Ahom general who defeated the Mughals, which was unveiled by Modi in March 2024. Atal Bihari Vajpayee government had honored Congress leader Gopinath Bordoloi with Bharat Ratna.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated the new terminal building of the Lok Sabha Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati. Earlier, Prime Minister Modi reached Guwahati on a two-day visit to Assam. He will inaugurate various projects worth about Rs 15,600 crore in Assam and address public meetings.

The Prime Minister was welcomed at the popular Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport by Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya, Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma, his cabinet colleagues, Guwahati Mayor Mrigen Sharanya and senior state government officials.

PM inaugurates new terminal of Guwahati Airport opening

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the new terminal of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) here. The integrated Terminal 2 building has been designed to handle 1.31 crore passengers per year. The Prime Minister also inspected the new terminal built at a cost of Rs 4,000 crore. The airport is named after the first Chief Minister of Assam, whose 80-foot-tall statue was also unveiled by Modi outside the airport.

Officials said the total cost of the project is Rs 5,000 crore, of which Rs 1,000 crore has been specifically allocated for maintenance, repair facilities. He said that the objective of this airport is to become a major aviation hub for North-East India and the gateway to South-East Asia. Officials said the new terminal has an area of ​​1,40,000 square meters and its design is inspired by the rich biodiversity and cultural heritage of Assam.
