Former Prime Minister Imran Khan and wife sentenced to so many years imprisonment in Toshakhana case
Imran Khan: Pakistan court has given a big decision regarding former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Political turmoil has intensified in Pakistan. Pakistan court has sentenced Imran Khan and wife Bushra Bibi to 17-17 years in jail.
What is the allegation against Imran Khan?
This matter is related to Toshakhana case. Imran Khan is accused that the Saudi Crown Prince had gifted him a very expensive Bulgari jewelery set. Which he had to deposit in the government treasury i.e. Toshakhana. But he sold this jewelery and used it for his personal gain. Imran Khan got the value of the precious jewelery set wrongly assessed and kept it with himself by depositing the nominal amount in the government treasury. Investigation found that the actual market value of these jewelery was in crores.
The court sentenced in two parts
This decision has been given by a special court in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi. After about 80 hearings, Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand gave this decision. At present Imran Khan is lodged in this jail, where the court proceedings took place. The court has sentenced him in two parts, which includes 10 years of rigorous imprisonment under Section 409 of the Pakistan Penal Code and 7 years of rigorous imprisonment under Section 5(2)47 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Which was a total of 17 years.
Wife Bushra Bibi also sentenced to 17 years
According to the information, Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi was also sentenced to a total of 17 years in jail under the same sections. The role of both in the case is said to be equally serious. Apart from this, the court has also imposed a heavy fine of Rs 1 crore 64 lakh on both of them. According to the law, if he does not pay the fine, he will be sentenced to more jail time.
Decision against law and facts
After the decision, the legal team of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi indicated that they will challenge this decision in the High Court. Lawyers say that this decision is against law and facts.
