Delhi NCR Weather:Dense fog along with severe cold is increasing the problems of people in Delhi-NCR. The effect of cold wave is likely to persist in the capital and surrounding areas in the morning and evening. Visibility may be reduced due to fog and mist, due to which road and air traffic is expected to be affected.
How will the weather be in Delhi today?
According to the Meteorological Department, today Delhi may remain wrapped in a blanket of fog. You will feel more chill due to cold winds in the morning and night. The maximum temperature of the day can be around 17 to 18 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to be between 10 to 13 degrees Celsius.
Effect of cold in NCR areas
There may be fog in Gurugram in the morning and evening, which will further increase the feeling of cold. There is a possibility of light sunshine during the day. The minimum temperature here can be recorded between 10 to 12 degrees Celsius.
The weather will be similar in Noida also. There will be a cold wave with fog in the morning, while the weather may remain hazy during the day. The minimum temperature here can remain around 9 to 11 degrees Celsius.
AQI ranges from very poor to severe
The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi-NCR is expected to remain in the very poor to severe category even today. The level of pollution has remained worrisome for the last few days. Along with Delhi, the air quality in Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad also remains close to severe category.
Pollution may worsen in the next two days
According to the Air Quality Early Warning System (AQEWS), pollution levels may increase further in the next two days due to adverse weather. AQI is likely to reach the severe category on Sunday and Monday. On Saturday, Delhi’s average AQI was recorded at 384, which is very close to the serious level.
Strictness to control pollution
To reduce pollution, a ban on outdoor vehicles below BS-6 standard has been implemented in Delhi from Thursday. Along with this, ‘No PUC, No Fuel’ policy is also applicable. Fuel is not being supplied at petrol pumps in the absence of valid Pollution Control Certificate (PUC).
Air traffic affected by fog
Dense fog has also affected air travel. About 177 flights had to be canceled at Delhi Airport on Friday, while more than 500 flights were delayed. The Civil Aviation Ministry said that it is monitoring the situation in collaboration with the Meteorological Department.
